Putting a model in space

I chose to suspend a well build and painted model of NCC-1701-D
from my fan in the middle of my room by strong clear fishing line.
Then, I took several pictures of it from various angles with a digital camera:
This is the final image choice:
Take a program like Photoshop
and begin cutting away the room:
This is what it looks like when
you finish replacing the room with
a color like white:

Now, replace the white with a starfield, and viola!
The Enterprise-D appears as if it were hanging in space:
